Xiao Xiangping

Born in the hometown of Tang Xianzu (1550-1616), often called the “Shakespeare of China,” Mr. Xiao is presently the Resident Performer of the Kunqu Opera Museum of China, in Suzhou.  Xiao has studied both Kun Opera and Peking Opera under famed performers Bi Gaoxiu, Yue Meiti, Cai Zhengren, Shi Xiaomei, and Professor Tan Bingruo of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.  Xiao’s repertoire includes Peony Pavilion, The Jade Hairpin, The White Snake, and other noted classics, and he is noted for his performances in the roles of Lu Bu, Zhou Yu, Luo Cheng, Liu Mengmei, Pan Bizheng, and Tang Minghuang in Kun Opera and Peking Opera. He is a member of the Jiangsu Dramatists’ Association.
