Hong Kong bathed in the golden light of the 1960s. Chow Mo-wan and Su li-zhen are neighbors living in two rented apartments side by side. The journalist with the perfect haircut and the elegant secretary in a perfectly fitted dress exchange casual pleasantries at the stairway. Until they find out their spouses are having an affair with each other. The silent understanding will sprout into a relationship which, at that place and time, should not have come to fruition.

Wong Kar Wai

Born in Shanghai, Wong Kar Wai moved at the age of five to Hong-Kong with his parents. He was recognized as one of the most promising filmmakers, in 1988, with his first feature film As Tears Go By. In 1990, Days of Being Wild, depicting the youth of that mythical Hong Kong of the 60s, won five top prizes at the Hong Kong Film Awards. He then directed Ashes of Time. In 1994, Chungking Express was the first of his films to break through into wide international distribution. One year later, Fallen Angels consolidated his position as one of the most innovative storytellers of our times. In 1997, Happy Together earned the Best Director Prize at Festival de Cannes and in 2000 Tony Leung walked away with the Best Actor Prize for In the Mood for Love, also in Cannes. His latest films are: The Lady from Shanghai and The Grandmaster with Tony Leung.
